Hamas listed as terrorist organisation

The military wing of the fundamentalist Islamic group was already considered a terrorist organisation, but yesterday Australia went a step further and declared that the political wing of Hamas are terrorists too. We join the US and UK in extending the designation to the group that controls the parliament of the Palestinian National Authority. Founded in 1987, Hamas (which is also known as the Islamic Resistance Movement) advocates for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Hamas was in the news a lot last year it fronted Gaza’s conflict with Israel that threatened to become a full-on war. Yesterday, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews added it and 3 other organisations to the terrorist list, including extreme American right-wing group, the National Socialist Order. #SquizShortcut
