Happy Census Day

It’s the equivalent of a blue moon for stats nerds… It only happens every 5 years, and while COVID has proven too big and ugly for most events, the Census is powering on. The national survey, brought to you by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, is used by all levels of government, businesses, and so many more to make decisions about the future. For the first time since 2006, there will be new questions on health and military service, but there won’t be any COVID-specific themes. And in a big break with tradition, we’re allowed to complete the Census early if you know where you’ll be tonight. That’ll help prevent a 2016-style #CensusFail… And with 75% of us expected to do the survey online, we can’t meecro-wah-vey the popcorn just yet – the results won’t be released until June next year. #SquizShortcuts
