Qantas’ Christmas wish

Qantas boss Alan Joyce yesterday said some international flights could resume by Christmas if vaccination rates are high and at-home quarantine was a thing. The company hopes flights to New Zealand, Singapore, the US, the UK, Japan and Canada will resume by December, with remaining Qantas and Jetstar routes resuming in April 2022. Yesterday Qantas announced a COVID-sized $1.73 billion loss for the 2020-21 financial year, which could have something to do with the keen-as-mustard attitude towards getting travel happening again. Trade/Tourism Minister Dan Tehan said 80% of eligible populations would need to be fully vaccinated before travel bubbles could be set up with other countries.
