Blaming your metabolism…

… is what sensible people do when the extra kilos become easy to gain and hard to shed. But an ‘unprecedented’ study says that’s not how it works. The Science journal-published paper took data from 6,400 people from 29 countries ranging in age from 8-days-old to 95yo. It found that the body’s metabolism peaks at 1yo, gently decreases until 20yo, remains stable until 60yo, and then starts to decline. Researchers said the study has huge implications for medicine, including cancer and Alzheimer’s research. Which means we might need to concede that the 4pm snack to tie us over to dinner might be an issue…
