Catching up with Covid

As NSW (110), Victoria (22) and South Oz (6) reported new local cases of COVID yesterday, PM Scott Morrison came under pressure to apologise for delays to the vaccination rollout. Speaking to the press pack outside The Lodge in Canberra where he’s under restrictions after travelling from Sydney, Morrison said the program is running about 2 months behind and expressed frustration over the limits that have been put on the AstraZeneca vaccine by the official immunisation experts. However, “I take responsibility for the problems that we have had, but I am also taking responsibility for the solutions we’re putting in place and the vaccination rates that we are now achieving,” he said. On that, he said the program’s pace is picking up with a steady supply of Pfizer shots starting to arrive. And a new milestone was marked yesterday: one million jabs went into arms over the last week.
