Meanwhile in Coronavirus news…

• Southeast Queensland’s lockdown has been extended until Sunday afternoon after the state reported 13 new locally acquired cases yesterday. Ten of the cases are children younger than 9yo – all are linked to a growing cluster involving several schools in Brissie.

• Speaking of kids, Australia’s immunisation expert group ATAGI has approved the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 12-15yo with significant health conditions, as well as Indigenous children. A decision on opening up the program to all children will be made in the coming weeks.

• NSW recorded 207 new local cases yesterday and the 15th death from the Delta outbreak since it started in June. Premier Gladys Berejiklian says restrictions will ease when more than 50% of the state’s adults are vaccinated – something she says could be on the cards by the end of the month. Lifting the lockdown will also depend on case numbers at the time, which officials say are currently too high.
