Video Producer
Company: Squiz Media
Location: Sydney, NSW

The Squiz is an independent Australian news company that helps time-poor Aussies stay informed without feeling overwhelmed. We deliver agenda-free, fact-based news through daily newsletters and podcasts. And through Newshounds, our classroom program for 7-12 year olds, we're making sure the next generation are sharp, critical consumers of news and information. We're a team of 15 running a sustainable, independent business, and we're growing.
We're looking for a Sydney-based Video Editor + Designer who loves news and wants to shape how it looks, feels and moves. This is a behind-the-camera role for someone with a strong design eye. You'll bring graphics, motion and visual storytelling to our short-form video and social output, working closely with our Editor to turn the day's news into content that actually stands out in a crowded feed.
You'll thrive here if you can turn complex stories into clear, visually engaging short-form video without losing the nuance, and if you share our commitment to agenda-free reporting. A good sense of humour is non-negotiable (we promise to laugh at your jokes if you laugh at ours). Familiarity with how content performs on YouTube, Spotify and Apple is a big plus.

- Produce and edit video for commercial clients, making sure branded content meets both their standards and ours
Team Capability
- Upskill the wider content team on design fundamentals and how to use Squiz video templates
- Build templates, presets and guides that make it easier for the team to create on-brand video at pace
- Coach team members on visual storytelling for social
Strategy & Collaboration
- Help shape our short-form video strategy across YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, Apple and beyond
- Experiment with new formats, storytelling techniques and platform features (we like people who tinker)
- Work with the editorial team to keep video content true to the Squiz voice
- Stay across Australian news and current affairs, and help us hold the line on factual accuracy and agenda-free reporting
Distribution

Growth & Performance
- Monitor and report on video performance weekly and monthly to inform strategy

- Work with the editorial team to sharpen content based on what the numbers tell us
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 3 years in video editing and motion design, with a strong portfolio of short-form work
- Proficiency in After Effects, Premiere Pro and the wider Adobe Creative Suite
- A strong design eye, including typography, layout, colour and hierarchy
- Experience optimising content across multiple platforms while keeping a consistent visual standard
- A genuine interest in news and current affairs (you don't need to be a politics nerd, but you should care about what's going on in the world)
What We Offer
- A real chance to shape the future of news delivery in Australia
- A small, purpose-driven team that takes the work seriously but not ourselves
- Competitive salary and benefits
