Getting over yourself

If you think of when you were at your physical peak, you might think back to your 20s or 30s. That might be the case, but a new study from Kiwiland says people have the most satisfaction in their bodies in their 60s. Collecting data from more than 15,000 Kiwis aged between 18-94yo, the study found women’s body image dips between 19-24yo, while for men, it was those aged between 29-34yo. It’s thought that’s because the self-esteem of men and women in those age brackets is impacted by societal pressure to look a certain way. That stuff isn’t on our minds as we age, researchers say. The study’s authors will investigate whether that’s because we value function over appearance as we get older or because more of us don’t give a hoot what people think anymore…
