Canada and Malaysia set for elections

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has called a snap election, hoping that his Liberal Party will get its majority (and its mojo…) back. It’s 2 years early, but the last 2 years have been hard going with the government having to rely on the support of others to pass legislation and get anything done. Like other leaders worldwide, Trudeau thinks voters will reward his handling of the pandemic, analysts say. Canada’s post-COVID economic outlook is good, and Canada’s been at the top of global vaccination rates, with 72% at least one jab down. Also changing it up is Malaysia. PM Muhyiddin Yassin resigned yesterday after months of turmoil that saw him lose his majority – and that’s a nice way of putting it… For some reason, his cross-party cabinet of 70 people didn’t provide the stability they’d hoped for…
