Late to the Olympics party
As far as North Koreans are concerned, the Tokyo Olympics started mid-last week and is not accompanied by commentary… Locals are none the wiser due to the nation’s internet and TV being heavily restricted by the state. Not that there were local athletes to cheer on at the Games this year – the country bowed out over COVID concerns. But now, sports fans can tune in to watch a selection of events on state-run TV. “Excited to find out how many medals North Korea got in their version of the Olympics!” one cheeky commentator tweeted.
