A killer kangaroo

A Western Australian man is believed to have been killed by his 3yo pet kangaroo, and that’s notable because the last kangaroo-attack death was recorded in 1936… Alpaca breeder Peter Eades was on his Redmond property (near Albany) when he died on Monday afternoon, and authorities were forced to kill the marsupial to get to him. Those who knew Eades say he was an animal lover who had hand-raised the roo from a joey. Kangaroo behaviour expert Graeme Coulson says while attacks are not uncommon because they can interpret humans’ upright stance as a challenge, they are “very, very rarely fatal”. The region is home to western grey kangaroos, and males can weigh up to 70kg and be more than 220cm tall from head to tail. That’s not quite as big as the beefcake red roos from Central Australia…
