As expected, heavy rain fell across the weekend, leaving thousands of New South Welshpeople to deal with rising waters as more than 100 warnings and evacuation orders were issued from Sydney’s northwest to the Riverina and Central West. Downpours of 40-50mm were recorded across the state, with some receiving heavier falls. That’s upped the river levels around the regional centres of Dubbo and Wagga. Coastal areas were also drenched from the Hunter to the Illawarra. Emergency services received more than 650 calls for help, and the Defence Force was brought in to deal with complex evacuations.
