Don’t roll up your sleeves just yet…

A 5th COVID jab is off the cards for now despite a recent uptick in cases, according to Australia’s official vaccine experts. After considering international and local data, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) said any reductions in transmission from a 3rd booster shot would “likely be minimal”. Health Minister Mark Butler said booster recommendations would be reviewed again early next year and urged over-30yos to get up-to-date on their vaccinations. As for under-30yos, a 4th jab remains under review due to the increased risk of heart inflammation. Meanwhile, a new Omicron-specific Pfizer vaccine is set to be rolled out in Oz next month after a similar Moderna jab became available last month. Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said that while there has been a 47% increase in COVID cases in the past week, he expects the latest wave will “peak soon and drop quickly”. Wouldn’t that be a Christmas treat…
