The European power will provide Ukraine with more than $4.4 billion in military aid for its fight against Russia in its latest tranche of support for the besieged nation. But it isn’t wads of cash – the package includes tanks, air defence systems, and ammunition. German ​​Defence Minister Boris Pistorius made the pledge yesterday, just before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s first visit to Germany since the invasion. Zelenksy’s packed in a bit over the weekend… Before he visited Berlin, he stopped in Rome to speak to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who also promised financial/military aid. Zelensky also visited Pope Francis, gifting him a bulletproof vest with a painted image of the Madonna – a religious depiction of the Virgin Mary, not the singer… That might have cheered the Pope up, after he “lost his patience” and chastised a woman who had asked him to bless her baby. Her fur-baby, that is…
