Inquiry into Crown Casino – Take 3

Another day, another formal look into Crown Resorts’ affairs… This time the hot winds of scrutiny are blowing in from Western Oz as its Royal Commission into whether the state’s only casino operator is a suitable licence holder resumed yesterday. It will hear from the first witnesses tomorrow. It’s looking into the same reports of money laundering, links to organised crime, and tax avoidance that prompted inquiries in other states. And the hits just keep on coming for Crown…  Star Entertainment Group has withdrawn its $12 billion merger proposal thanks to the revelations that came out of Victoria’s Royal Commission. Speaking of, reports say Crown could be given 2 years to become a suitable operator of its flagship Melbourne casino instead of having its licence cancelled on the spot. Which is like winning the pot in poker after a series of losing hands…
