To say many people are keen to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth would be the understatement of the year… In Edinburgh, “many tens – possibly even hundreds – of thousands of people” have attempted to file past her coffin in St Giles’ Cathedral. And authorities in London are said to be preparing for 750,000-1 million hopefuls. The problem is Westminster Hall – where the Queen’s coffin will arrive after a procession from Buckingham Palace overnight – can accommodate just 350,000 people over the 4 days before her funeral. And those allowed to join the queue can expect to line up for 17-35 hours.
