Going with the flow gets gnarly
A Gold Coast man whose videos of himself and his pet snake surfing went viral online this month might not be feeling sssuper swell… Higor Fiuza has been slapped with a $2,322 fine for taking his 3yo carpet python Shiva out in public without a permit after authorities saw news coverage of the pair – at the time, Fiuza said he’d taken Shiva surfing about 10 times. “She goes for a swim a little and then comes back to the board – just cruising, waiting for a wave,” he said. But Queensland Environment Department’s John McDonald says the native animal permit Fiuza holds restricts Shiva to licensed premises. McDonald also suggested she might not have been ssstoked to be surfing, saying “the python would have found the water to be extremely cold” (which would mean this particular snake would be Shiva-ing…). It’s got us recalling some other local animal attractions – behold Pork Chop, the surfing English bulldog and Duck, the surfing duck…
