The 2nd round of the Eurovision semi-finals kicked off this morning, with The Voice star Sheldon Riley representing Oz with his song Not the Same. The 23yo wrote the power ballad years ago as a message to his younger self about the struggles of dealing with Asperger’s Syndrome. Still, this morning’s performance was a more glammed up affair than when he won the Aussie competition in February. ”I realised my song isn’t a sad song … it has a lot of hope,” Riley said. Ukrainian folk-rap band Kalush Orchestra are the favourites to win the competition after receiving a standing ovation for their song Stefania in yesterday’s semi-final, with the UK’s Sam Ryder also in the running. Eurovision buffs can tune into the grand final from 5am (AEST) on SBS this Sunday – or 7.30pm for sleep-in enthusiasts.
